Ex-NHL center Randy Robitaille scored twice as his Metallurg Novokuznetsk team twice came back from a goal down to beat Slovan Bratislava 4-2 on the road in the KHL.

The result puts Metallurg back into the Eastern Conference playoff spots in eighth, while Slovan stays ninth in the West.

The match was a story of two goaltenders as Slovan rained down 33 shots on Alexander Lazushin’s goal, while Metallurg scored its four goals from just 18 shots, although Slovan goaltender Jaroslav Janus had been pulled for the final goal.

Slovan took the lead with a first-period goal from Mario Bliznak, who charged through a large gap left by Slovan’s defensemen.

Metallurg’s Dmitry Chernykh tied the match with a goal from close range early in the second, before a precise wrist shot from Robitaille made it 2-1 to the visitors.

Slovan’s Michal Vondrka equalized again off an assist from lockout signing Lubomir Visnovsky of the New York Islanders, who shimmied through the Metallurg defense.

Robitaille restored Metallurg’s lead early in the third period with a slap shot, before Nikita Vyglazov sealed the win with an empty-netter in the last minute.

Earlier Saturday, Nefthekhimik Nizhnekamsk defeated Atlant Moscow Region 6-5 in overtime, and Lokomotiv Yaroslavl beat Severstal Cherepovets 2-0.
