New Jersey Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov will be out of action for the next four weeks after reportedly breaking a bone while playing in the KHL, Volchenkov’s lockout team Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod told R-Sport on Tuesday.

Volchenkov left the ice injured during a 3-2 defeat to Metallurg Magnitogorsk on October 15, with an injury variously reported as a broken leg, ankle or foot bone.

A Torpedo spokesperson did not specify Volchenkov’s injury, but said he would not return in the next month.

“Volchenkov is injured, damage to the lower part of the body. Out for four weeks,” the spokesperson said.

The Russian had been playing in his third lockout KHL game when he was injured, after two earlier scoreless games.

He has played 557 games for the Ottawa Senators and New Jersey since moving to North America in 2002, scoring 113 points.
