Sibir Novosibirsk brought to an end Dynamo Moscow’s eight-game winning streak as the visitors from Siberia beat the Muscovites 3-2 in overtime in the KHL.

The hosts managed to avoid defeat in regulation as Dmitry Pestunov leveled the score two minutes from the final horn, but Nikita Zaitsev sealed the victory for the Siberians in overtime.

It took Sibir nearly an hour to respond to the fifth-minute opener by last term's postseason top scorer Mikhail Anisin.

Anton Malyshev and Jori Lehtera both found the net in the third period to put Sibir on the brink of a regulation win.

Alex Ovechkin got an assist for Pestunov's leveler that took the Washington Capitals star to 11 points from 11 games.

Despite the defeat, Dynamo remains top of the Western Conference, leading second-placed Lokomotiv Yaroslavl by four points, but the reformed team has a game in hand.

Sibir is second in the East with the same number of points as leader Traktor Chelyabinsk, which has played two games less.

Elsewhere, SKA St. Petersburg routed Amur Khabarovsk 7-3 at home to clinch its fifth consecutive victory.

Former New York Rangers forward Petr Prucha scored twice for the hosts while locked out New Jersey Devils winger Ilya Kovalchuk recorded two assists.

SKA is third in the West and Amur is outside the playoff zone in the East on tenth.
