More than 25 football supporters have been released from custody following scuffles at a Russian Cup match that was called off, a police source told RIA Novosti on Thursday.

Wednesday's Moscow derby between Torpedo and Dynamo was stopped after 51 minutes with fans throwing projectiles including firecrackers onto the pitch at the Eduard Streltsov stadium.

Dynamo had been leading 2-1 on a brace from defender Vladimir Rykov.

The match had already been interrupted for 10 minutes in the first half due to the pyrotechnics, but was restarted after the team captains pleaded with the fans to behave.

Police had earlier told RIA Novosti that 20 arrests had been made outside the stadium in the run-up to the match.

"After the game police detained six more and took them to the police station, where they underwent administrative procedures," the source said.
