Russia's Paralympic archers swept the podium in the men's standing category on Monday as Timur Tuchinov beat Oleg Shestakov in the final.

Tuchinov downed Shestakov 7-3, while another Russian, Mikhail Oyun beat the American Eric Bennett 6-0 in the bronze medal match.

Russian archers failed to win any medals at the 2008 Beijing Paralympic games.

Earlier Monday, Russia's Raisa Tchebanika snatched Paralympic table tennis gold, beating Ukraine's Antonina Khodzynska, competing in the W6 category for athletes with impaired limb function.

Another Russian, Vladimir Andryushchenko, won silver in men's shot put, competing in the F12 visually impaired category.

Andryushchenko scored 966 points, beaten only by Ukraine's Andrii Holivets, who earned 991. The bronze went to the Australian Russell Short, who got a 950 score.

Many field events are scored on points rather than outright distances to factor in the varying degrees of disability of the athletes.

Russia stands third in the Paralympic medal rankings with 14 golds, 15 silver and 10 bronze, trailing leaders China and Britain.
