American forward and former college basketball star Chuck Eidson has joined Russian team UNICS Kazan from Barcelona on a two-year deal, the Russian team said Sunday.

Eidson played for the University of South Carolina but failed to break into the NBA and has since played for teams across Europe, being named Eurocup MVP in 2009 and reaching the Euroleague Final Four with Barcelona last season.

"UNICS has signed a contract with the American Chuck Eidson for two years," the Russian team said on Twitter.

Eidson, 31, joined Barcelona last summer from Maccabi Tel Aviv on a two-year deal, which was terminated by the club after the end of last season.

UNICS won the 2010-11 Eurocup and made its debut in Euroleague last season, reaching the quarterfinals before a 3-0 whitewash series defeat against Barcelona.

UNICS enter next season's Euroleague as a wild card entrant after failing to secure an automatic slot with a fifth-placed finish in the Russian PBL.

In June, UNICS re-signed its former coach Aco Petrovic on a one-year deal.

Petrovic coached UNICS from 2007 to 2009, when the team finished third in the Russian championship in 2008 and won the national cup in 2009.
