Former Manchester City striker Felipe Caicedo was on target Saturday as Lokomotiv Moscow beat FC Volga 2-0 in the Russian Premier League.

The win lifts the Railwaymen to third in the league after five games, behind only Zenit St. Petersburg and Spartak Moscow, although all but three of the 15 other teams have a game in hand.

"Our plan was to win three points today, and to archieve this we had to be concentrated, but also to dominate," Lokomotiv coach Slaven Bilic said.

"But we still somehow lack concentration and self-confidence and, regarding this, today's win was very important for the whole team."

Caicedo opened the scoring on 65 minutes, hammering the ball into the net from a meter out after a cross from ex-Tottenham Hotspur defender Vedran Corluka.

Glushakov doubled Lokomotiv's advantage four minutes before the full-time with a 20-yard shot into the far corner of the net following a counterattack.

Earlier Saturday, a controversial late penalty from Dmitry Kombarov and a debut goal for Romulo gave Spartak Moscow all three points in a 2-1 win over Rubin Kazan.

FC Krasnodar host FC Rostov in the last match of the day.

Anzhi clash with Zenit St. Petersburg in Sunday’s biggest game, while Dynamo Moscow host Terek Grozny in Moscow and CSKA Moscow face FC Rostov away.

On Monday, Krylya Sovetov play Amkar Perm and Alania Vladikavkaz meet FC Kuban.
