Pole vault world record holder Yelena Isinbaeva is confident of winning gold at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, her coach told R-Sport on Friday.

Isinbayeva, 30, won the bronze medal at the London Games on Monday and told Russian media Friday that she wanted to compete at the next Olympics.

"I think she feels frustration from the competition in London, that's why she took such a decision," her coach Evgeny Trofimov said.

"Lena consulted with me, I told her that she has a huge potential, which has to be used. Most importantly, she had a desire to avenge for the not very high results, which she showed at the Olympics."

After the Olympics, Russia's double Olympic champion and setter of 28 world records said she was likely to compete at the 2013 world athletics championships on home soil in Moscow.

"Had Elena won in London, I think she would have ended her career," Trofimov said.

In London, Isinbayeva failed to clear 4.75 meters twice, then missed 4.80, finishing far off her world record of 5.06.
