Ex-Chelsea player Dan Petrescu is a candidate for the vacant job of Dynamo Moscow coach but other options are still being considered, Dynamo chairman Vasily Titov has told R-Sport.

Petrescu quit as FC Kuban coach August 10 to seek “a new challenge”, four days after Dynamo coach Sergei Silkin resigned following a 4-0 derby defeat to Spartak Moscow.

A source at Dynamo told R-Sport on Thursday that Petrescu would be appointed by the end of the week.

“Petrescu’s not the only option as of today, we’re looking at a number of options,” Titov said Thursday.

“We haven’t made a formal offer to anyone as of today. We’re still discussing.”

Titov added that the Dynamo board would meet either Friday or Saturday to decide a new coach, as well as a new club president after Yuri Isaev left Thursday.

“All the questions will be resolved then, both about the president and the head coach,” Titov said.

Dynamo is bottom of the Russian Premier League after losing all four of its games so far this season.

Youth coach Dmitry Khokhlov has been the caretaker coach since Silkin lift, guiding the team to a 5-0 thrashing of Dundee United in the Europa League and a 2-0 Russian Premier League defeat to Rubin Kazan.

Dynamo next play Terek Grozny at home Sunday, before heading to Germany on Wednesday to face VfB Stuttgart in the Europa League playoffs.
