Britain's Mo Farah added the 5,000 meters title to his 10,000 meters gold medal at the London Olympics on Saturday.

Farah took the lead at the bell and held it in a courageous, lung-busting final 100 meters to take gold in 13 minutes, 41.66 seconds.

"It's unbelievable. Two gold medals, who would have thought that?" he said.

Ethiopia's world bronze medalist Dejen Gebremeskel came strong at the death but had to settle for silver in 13:41.98.

"I was a little bit slow and I could have kicked off a bit earlier to get away from the group," Gebremeskel said.

Thomas Pkemei Longosiwa of Kenya won a surprise bronze in 13:42.36.

"Beforehand I planned to be on the podium," said Longosiwa. "It's a championship race so it wasn't necessarily going to be fast."

It makes a long-distance double for Farah, who became the first Briton to win the Olympic 10,000 meters a week ago.

"These two medals are for my two girls who aren't born yet," Farah said.

"It could be any day. The doctors said we have 12 days."
