World record holder and reigning Olympic champion Usain Bolt is “running well”, he said Saturday.

Bolt qualified for the Olympic semifinals Saturday with a time of 10.09 seconds, the ninth-fastest in the heats.

“I expected it, I'm running well, I'm happy, training is great. Reaction was good,” Bolt said.

“I'm looking forward to the semifinals tomorrow.”

Fellow Jamaians Asafa Powell and Yohan Blake both qualified, Powell saying he “took it easy” while running a 10.04 race.

“I just wanted to get the cobwebs out,” he said.

The fastest time was set by Ryan Bailey, 23, of the United States, who set a time of 9.88 seconds, equaling his personal best, describing it as “surprisingly easy”.

Kim Collins of St. Kitts and Nevis, a finalist four years ago, did not take part after reportedly falling out with his country’s officials.
