Spanish champions Real Madrid may travel to Russia’s restive North Caucasus region to play a testimonial for Roberto Carlos, the former left-back said Wednesday.

Roberto Carlos, 39, spent 11 seasons with Real and ended his career with Russian side Anzhi, where he is now a director.

Anzhi face Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa League third qualifying round on Thursday, but UEFA banned the team from using their home stadium in the city of Makhachkala, where 14 people were killed and 122 wounded in suicide bombings in May.

"We have already held talks about a game between Real and Anzhi with Real president [Florentino] Perez,” Roberto Carlos.

"I want this match to take place in Makhachkala."

Roberto Carlos won four Spanish league titles and three Champions League titles with Real, and also had spells with Palmeiras, Inter Milan, Fenerbahce and Corinthians.

He played for Brazil for 14 years, winning the 2002 World Cup and reaching the final of the 1998 competition.

Roberto Carlos played 25 games for Anzhi in the 2011-12 season before hanging up his boots, with the team qualifying for the Europa League after finishing fifth.
