Former Denver Nuggets and Toronto Raptors forward Sonny Weems had has joined CSKA Moscow on a three-year deal, the Russian side said Monday.

Weems is a replacement for Andrei Kirilenko, who signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday and Ramunas Siskauskas, who retired this summer, CSKA president Andrei Vatutin said on the team's website..

Weems said he didn't regret not returning to the NBA after joining Lithuania's Zalgiris Kaunas during last season's lockout.

"I will say this: CSKA is a top European team, which is well known in the U.S., so I don't see a huge difference," Weems said on the team's website.

Weems, 26, made a total of 140 NBA appearances for Denver and Toronto before moving to Zalgiris, where he stayed for the rest of the season.

Former CSKA coach Jonas Kazlauskas was replaced by ex-L.A. Lakers consultant Ettore Messina after the team lost 62-61 to underdogs Olympiacos in last season's Euroleague final.
