Lokomotiv Moscow will not sell former Mancester City striker Felipe Caicedo despite reports linking him with Spanish side Espanyol, a senior club official told R-Sport Tuesday.

Reports in the Spanish media have claimed that Caicedo wants to move to Espanyol and that the two clubs are in talks.

Lokomotiv's chief scout Kirill Kotov, who is also the son-in-law of club president Olga Smorodskaya, said his club has "had no contact" with any other club about the striker.

"Lokomotiv have never considered selling Caicedo," Kotov said.

"We bought this player after a careful analysis of his game and its compatibility with our team's football, and selling him after one year of performances for Lokomotiv is absolutely not in our plans."

"We believe in Caicedo's great potential, which has not yet been revealed at Lokomotiv."

Caicedo switched to Lokomotiv on a four-year contract in July 2011 for a reported 7.5 million euros, less than a month after joining Levante from Manchester City following a loan spell at the Spanish outfit.

Since arriving in Moscow, the powerful striker has scored eight goals in 25 games.

An Ecuador international since 2005, Caicedo has earned 32 caps and scored five goals for his country.
