Former Winnipeg Jets defenseman Mark Flood, who left the NHL side as a free agent after the end of last season, has signed a one-year contract with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, the KHL team said Monday.

Lokomotiv has been assembling a new squad for its return to the KHL after the entire roster perished in an air crash last September.

Canadian player Flood, 27, played 33 matches for the Jets last season, and has made a total of 39 career NHL appearances.

In April, Lokomotiv signed former Carolina Hurricanes assistant coach Tom Rowe, who worked with Rowe in the AHL with the Albany River Rats.

Since Rowe's arrival, the team has made two more ex-NHL signings, including Finnish forward Niklas Hagman, who played in the NHL for nearly a decade, and former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Staffan Kronwall.
