WBC champion Vitali Klitschko said Monday he may break German challenger Manuel Charr’s teeth with his famed “iron first” when they meet in Moscow in September.

Rumors have swirled that the fight may be the last for the 40-year-old Klitschko, who has said he will seek election to the Ukrainian parliament in October.

Klitschko said: “I think he’s forgotten my nickname’s Dr. Ironfist. When he attacks he can break his teeth,” after comparing the German underdog to a young lion.

“He must watch out when he bites or he’ll go home to his cage without any teeth.”

Charr was unable to appear at Monday’s news conference, with his trainer blaming visa problems.

Noting that Charr had appeared at David Haye’s win over Dereck Chisora on Saturday, Klitschko suggested the German was afraid to meet him in person.

“Instead of coming to Moscow, he had an offer to come to London. He made it to England,” Klitschko said.

“I hope that this will be the last apology from him.”

In a telephone call to the news conference, Charr vowed to surprise the world of boxing by taking Klitschko’s belt, adding that “Vitali sees his defeat” in the German’s eyes.

Klitschko has won 44 of his 46 professional fights, with both of his defeats coming from technical knockouts due to cuts or injury, and has never been knocked down in the professional ring.

The Moscow bout will be his first fight in Russia.

The Syrian-born Charr is unbeaten in 21 fights, with wins over former heavyweight title challengers Owen Beck and Danny Williams.
