The Euro 2012 group stage game between Ukraine and France will resume at 8.00 local time (5.00 GMT) after being suspended, UEFA announced in a live television feed.
The referee stopped the match in Donetsk after four minutes amid lightning and torrential rain.
Play will resume at 8.00 local time (5.00 GMT), an on-screen graphic in the live feed from the stadium said.
Staff at the Donbass Arena have been making holes in the pitch with forks to aid drainage.
Tournament regulations stipulate that the remaining time must be played the next day in the event that the referee declares conditions unfit for play and abandons the match.
