Russian football forward Roman Pavlyuchenko shouted himself hoarse at the Russian ice hockey team’s world championship win, he said Monday.

Russia trounced Slovakia 6-2 in Sunday's final to win the annual world hockey championships for the first time since 2009, and only the fourth time in Pavlyuchenko’s lifetime.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker is training in Moscow with Dick Advocaat’s Russia team ahead of next month’s Euro 2012 tournament.

“I just shouted myself hoarse during that final,” Pavlyuchenko said.

“I think our whole team watched it,” he added.

Pavlyuchenko, who joined Lokomotiv Moscow in January, has scored 20 goals in 45 appearances for Russia and featured in the country’s charge to the semifinals of Euro 2008.

Russia will face the Czech Republic, joint hosts Poland, and Greece in the group stage of Euro 2012, which will take place in Poland and Ukraine from June 8 through July 1.
