Russian diver Gleb Galperin, a rival of Britain’s Tom Daley, is unsure whether he will travel to an important Russian national training camp in Bulgaria ahead of the Olympics in London, he said Monday.

Galperin, a double world champion, won two bronze medals at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, but has been bothered by repeat injuries and has not won a major title since.

He qualified for the Olympics with 12th in the men’s 10-meter individual platform event at the World Cup in February and came third in the same event at the European championships in Eindhoven on Sunday, behind Daley and fellow Russian Victor Minibaev.

“I don’t know yet if I’ll go to Bulgaria with the national team, we’re still talking with the coaches,” Galperin said.

Minibaev said he was pleased to see Galperin challenging for medals at a major international competition again.

“I’m very pleased for Gleb. He really is practically a legend in diving,” Minibaev said.

“It’s great that he’s returning to his previous results, to the form he had in Beijing.”

Minibaev’s European silver medal was his second, after a second placed finish in the 10-meter synchro event at the 2010 championships in Budapest.

Russia’s only gold at the 2012 European diving championships came in the men’s three-meter synchro springboard, which Evgeny Kuznetsov and Ilya Zakharov won with a score of 445.92 points.
