A topless female protestor has again attacked the trophy to be awarded at Euro 2012, knocking it to the floor at an exhibition in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, on Monday, the Femen group to which the protestors belong said Monday.
The protestor was accompanied by a French journalist for Marie Claire magazine, and both were arrested afterwards together with several journalists, the group said.
On May 12 another protestor, Yulia Kovpachik, approached the Henri Delaunay trophy, on display in central Kiev, and knocked it over before displaying an obscene slogan on her bare torso directed against the tournament. She was arrested and organizers tightened security.
"[UEFA president Michel] Platini's Euro chicken-roasting pan has been knocked down to earth together with the pedestal to which it was attached after the Femen attack in Kiev," Femen said Monday.
The police had illegally confiscated the arrested reporters' equipment, Femen added.
Femen regularly stages topless protests and said it wanted to highlight how, the group claimed, Euro 2012 would increase prostitution in Ukraine.
“Femen is opposed to the hosting of Euro 2012 in Ukraine and accuses UEFA of propaganda for sex tourism, of stimulating sex tourism in the cities where the Euro tournament will be held, of debilitating the population and making it drunk,” the group said in a statement on Twitter after the first attack.
Poland and Ukraine are co-hosts for the Euro 2012 tournament, which runs from June 8 through July 1 and is considered one of Europe's most prestigious sporting events.
