Outgoing Valencia coach Unai Emery was quoted as saying Wednesday he would like to bring some of his players to Spartak Moscow.

The Spaniard, 43, is taking the reins from Valery Karpin at the Russian side, who secured Champions League football last week with a 2-0 win at Lokomotiv Moscow, from next season on.

"I would take to Russia to all the Valencia players," the coach told the Spanish sport newspaper Marca. "First we have to see what staff we have. The truth is I do not rule out someone might be coming with me."

Valencia finished sixth in La Liga in 2009, their first season under Emery, and have been Spain's third-best team, after Barcelona and Real Madrid, for the last three years.

These results made him "grow as a trademark," he told Marca.

"Spartak Moscow have called in only top coaches who belong to the elite. They considered that Valencia had an elite coach and for me it is pleasure," Emery was quoted as saying.

Spartak are in the third qualifying stage of the Champions League. Emery said he would welcome being drawn with Valencia in the Group Stage.

"It might be hard for Spartak," Emery said. "I would like to come back to Mestalla to play a Champions league game there."

Emery will be Spartak’s first foreign coach since ex-Denmark midfielder Michael Laudrup was fired in April 2009.

Karpin submitted his resignation in April 2011 after a string of poor results but has carried on in a temporary capacity and had been seeking his own successor.

Karpin played alongside Emery at Real Sociedad between 1995 and 1996 and is expected to remain at Spartak as a general director.
