UEFA will enforce new minimum medical requirements for all their matches from the next season on, the organization website said Tuesday.

UEFA action was prompted by the case of 25-year-old Udinese midfielder Piermario Morosini, who died in hospital after suffering a heart attack while playing on loan for Livorno last month.

In March, Fabrice Muamba, the Bolton Wanderers midfielder, collapsed after a cardiac arrest during the club's FA Cup quarterfinal with Tottenham.

"The list refers to pitchside medical equipment, ambulances, medical staff, emergency medical room equipment, pre-match information and pre-tournament information," a UEFA statement said.

Fifty-three member associations have already been given a full list of the new standards, UEFA said.

They will be provided with financial assistance to conform to the new demands and also will be allowed to loan the necessary equipment. UEFA said it would monitor complacency with the requirements and punish any violations.

The changes are introduced in order "to deal with accidents which might be life-threatening, or cause permanent injury," UEFA said.
