KHL team Avangard Omsk has been fined after their abused opposition players and the referees following the Gagarin Cup final decider against Dynamo Moscow, the KHL said Monday.

Dynamo Moscow players were pelted with bottles and coins from the stands as they celebrated the 1-0 win in Omsk on that gave the Moscow team its first Gagarin Cup with a 4-3 series win.

The KHL declined to specify the exact size of the fine, but referred to rules establishing a $3,500 to $51,000 penalty for the violations.

"Avangard has been fined in accordance with the disciplinary regulations," the KHL said in a statement on its website.

The referees also reported being abused by Avangard supporters.

“It’s a complete outrage,” Dynamo forward Mikhail Anisin told RIA Novosti after the game. “I think this behavior is just redneck stuff, uncivilized.”

He added Friday that he refused to apologise “to people who behaved like pigs in relation to our team.”
