Dynamo Moscow stunned city rivals CSKA 1-0 in the Russian Premier League on Saturday, with Zvjezdan Misimovic's strike lifting the club to second in the table.

Misimovic scored on 17 minutes after a period of incessant pressure on the visitors' goal.

The Bosnian slipped the ball over the onrushing Igor Akinfeev after latching onto a long pass from Balasz Dszudszak, his fifth goal in seven games.

Dynamo overtake second-placed Spartak to draw to within 11 points of leaders Zenit St. Petersburg, who play FC Kuban later.

It was CSKA's sixth successive game without a win, and the third in which they've failed to score.

The end-to-end match at Dynamo's Khimki arena was a far cry from the league's recent lethargic games, with both goalkeepers excelling.

Dszudszak, a winter signing from Anzhi Makhachkala, grazed the post with a low effort from 20 yards, before Misimovic sent a teasing cross past Akinfeev that no-one could stretch to.

The Hungary international winger then miscued a volley at the back post with the net gaping.

Zoran Tosic curled an effort wide from just inside the box at the other end.

Seydou Doumbia almost leveled the scores with a glancing header at the start of the second half, but Anton Shunin got down smartly to save.

The game got bogged down in midfield, with neither side carving out any chances.

The action picked up with 10 minutes to go as Akinfeev positioned himself perfectly to catch a point-blank header from Leandro Fernandes.

Akinfeev launched the ball to Doumbia, who fed Sekou Oliseh, but the Liberian struck a first shot and a rebound straight at Shunin.

Dszudszak burst through minutes later and tried to curl a shot around Akinfeev but the goalkeeper parried away.

Earlier Saturday, goals from penalties gave FC Volga a 2-0 win over nine-man FC Tom Tomsk, severely denting the Siberians' survival hopes.

And Vitaly Grishin's first-half strike gave Amkar Perm a 1-0 win over bottom club Spartak Nalchik
