Alex Radulov will stay in the NHL for at least “three to four years” after returning to the Nashville Predators, former Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers defenseman Darius Kasparaitis told RIA Novosti on Friday.

Radulov first joined the Predators in 2006, but left for Russia two years later with a year to run on his contract, saying he missed his homeland, only to return to Nashville for the playoffs last month.

“It’s unlikely that Radulov will come back. He feels confident in the NHL, he’s playing well and he’s comfortable. I think that Radulov will certainly play in the NHL for three to four years,” Kasparaitis said.

Radulov won the KHL title with Salavat Yulaev in 2011 and is now eyeing the NHL’s top prize, Kasparaitis said.

“He’s won the Gagarin Cup and probably wants to win the Stanley Cup.”

The KHL simply didn’t offer Radulov enough of a challenge, Kasparaitis said.

“As a player he needs something more. And he can only really show his ability in the NHL, because there are even better players there, there’s someone to compare himself with, to fight, to play against.”

Radulov will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer, able to command a high price for his services in the NHL.

Since rejoining the Predators, Radulov has played 13 games, notching up three goals and seven assists, and helped Nashville to build a 3-1 lead in their playoff series against the Detroit Red Wings, which the Predators can win with victory at home in Game 5 on Friday.
