Vera Zvonareva has been left out of Russia's Fed Cup squad for this month's semifinal against Serbia, according to the Russian Tennis Federation's website.

The lineup of Maria Kirilenko, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Elena Vesnina was announced Wednesday, a day after team captain Shamil Tarpishchev told RIA Novosti that Zvonareva was in.

Tarpishchev had said that a decision as to which four would represent Russia would be taken on the eve of the match, considering form and injuries.

Of the five, Zvonareva is the highest-ranked Russia at 10. World No. 2 Maria Sharapova is not participating.

The 27-year-old Muscovite, who has 12 career titles and is a former world No. 2, has had a modest start to 2012.

Her best showing was at last week's Family Circle Cup in Charleston, where she was knocked out of the quarterfinals by Czech Lucie Safarova.

Four-time Fed Cup champion Russia is considered the overwhelming favorite, with a 3-0 head-to-head record over the Serbs. The last encounter was a 3-2 victory for the Russians in Belgrade.

Russia lost last year's final to the Czech Republic.

The April 21-22 match is on indoor clay at the Megasport Arena in Moscow.
