Former NBA All-Star Andrei Kirilenko has been named the regular season MVP for Eastern Europe’s VTB basketball league, the competition said Friday.

Kirilenko edged out BC Khimki’s Croatian forward Kresimir Loncar and Jonas Valanciunas, a Toronto Raptors draft pick and center for Lithuanian team Lietuvos Rytas, to win the award in a complex voting system.

Ex-Utah Jazz forward Kirilenko has played nine games in CSKA’s charge to the VTB league Final Four, averaging 10.8 points and 5.8 rebounds.

Kirilenko’s CSKA teammate Viktor Khryapa, formerly of the Chicago Bulls, won the regular season MVP award in 2010, while last year’s award went to Azovmash’s Ramel Curry.

Kirilenko, nicknamed AK-47, is likely to be the last winner of the award as the VTB League plans to merge with Russia’s domestic PBL to create a new competition for next season.
