Shawn "the Sniper" Cox vowed on Friday to take out Russian boxer Denis Lebedev and win the WBA World Interim Cruiserweight title.
Lebedev will face Cox at Moscow’s Crocus City Hall on April 4.
“You know why they call me the sniper? Because I don’t miss,” Cox said in a video posted online.
“I’ve taken out 15 opponents with one shot. You will be number 16.”
Beating the Russian would be like “taking candy from a baby,” he said. “I’ll take that belt home to Barbados.”
Lebedev, known as The White Swan, beat James Toney for the belt in November, six months after knocking out multiple former world champion Roy Jones Jr.
The interim title gives Lebedev the right to fight Panamanian world champion Guillermo Jones, who stopped United States boxer Michael Marrone in November and beat longtime Russian contender Valery Brudov in 2010.
Cox, 37, stopped former WBC world champion Wayne “Big Truck” Braithwaite in February, but is not ranked among the top 15 boxers in his weight division by any of the world sanctioning bodies.
