Zenit St. Petersburg coach Luciano Spalletti says he hopes his title rivals CSKA Moscow beat Real Madrid in their upcoming Champions League clash Wednesday.

CSKA midfielder Pontus Wernbloom rescued a 1-1 draw with the last kick of the game in the first leg in Moscow last month, but the result means that CSKA will have to score in Madrid to qualify.

“It would be nice if CSKA managed to go further in the Champions League. I’m going to support CSKA,” Spalletti said in quotes posted on Zenit’s Twitter page.

“CSKA have a tricky game waiting for them," he conceded. "A 1-1 at home and a game in Madrid, it’s not that easy.”

Zenit lead the Russian Premier League by six points from CSKA with 12 games remaining.

There was controversy after the sides played their first game of the season in April 2011, when CSKA were awarded a win by default because Zenit had failed to include a Russian youth player in the squad, as required by league rules.
