The Russian national team won gold in free combination synchronized swimming at the 30th European Swimming Championships, held between August 4 and 15 in Hungary's Budapest.

The Russian national team won gold in free combination synchronized swimming at the 30th European Swimming Championships, held between August 4 and 15 in Hungary's Budapest.

The Russian team, consisting of Anastasia Yermakova, Natalia Ishchenko, Elvira Khasyanova, Daria Korobova, Olga Kuzhela, Alexandra Patskevich, Svetlana Romashina, Alla Shishkina, Anzhelika Timanina and Alexandra Zueva garnered an overall of 98.300 points on Sunday to win gold medals.

"I am relaxed now and can smile. But not for a long time because we have to prepare a new routine for next year. To achieve this gold medal the girls practiced 45 hours a week," Russian Head Coach Tatyana Pokrovskaya was quoted as saying on the championship's official website.

Synchronized swimmers from Spain, who were the defending European champions in this event, came 2nd to take the silver with 97.000 points and the Ukrainian national team took the bronze with 94.100 points.

Russia's athletes took all gold medals at this championship in all four synchronized swimming events in Budapest, having won in solo free, team free and duet free.
