FIG has allowed Russia’s national rhythmic gymnastics team to participate in the 2016 Olympic Games.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has allowed Russia’s national rhythmic gymnastics team to participate in the 2016 Olympic Games, Irina Viner-Usmanova, the team’s head couch, said Wednesday.

“The girls are in. The FIG have informed us in the morning that the entire team was allowed [to compete],” Viner-Usmanova, who is also the president of the Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, told R-Sport.

Russia has been accused of running a state-sponsored doping program, which led to some athletes found guilty of abusing performance-enhancing substances being suspended from competitions.
