Olympic long jump silver medalist Irina Meleshina has been banned from competing for two years for taking steroids, Russian anti-doping agency RUSADA has said.

Meleshina won silver at the 2004 Olympics in Athens under her maiden name of Irina Simagina with a jump of 7 meters 5 centimeters.

The ban follows a test taken in 2012, and there is no suggestion that Meleshina was using a banned substance at the time of her Olympic success.

The Russian athletics federation decided to ban Meleshina for two years from February 21, 2012, after receiving evidence from RUSADA, the doping agency said in a statement late Monday.

The substance Meleshina took is classified under section one of the World Anti-Doping Agency’s banned list, which covers anabolic steroids.

Meleshina also won gold at the 2003 Universiade in Daegu, South Korea, and bronze at the world indoor championships in Valencia in 2008, and has a personal best jump of 7 meters 27 centimeters.
