Wal-Mart (China) Investment Co. apologized on Thursday to customers after it was blacklisted for cheating on prices, Xinhua reported.
The company said it has been cooperating in an official investigation into cheating allegations and launched "self-examinations" at its 189 stores in 101 cities across the country.
The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's price regulator, said Wednesday some Carrefour and Wal-Mart stores were involved in "deceptive pricing practices."
The NDRC ordered the stores to "correct wrongdoing" and pay fines five times the illegal income.
