A Russian documentary about Lake Baikal will be shown in France and Monaco in June, Baikal Protection Foundation President Mikhail Slipenchuk said on Monday.
Baikal's Hidden Depths, based on a three-year expedition (2008-10), will be shown in Monaco on June 10, in Cannes on June 14 and Paris on June 18.
Russian submersibles Mir-1 and Mir-2 studied the lake's ecosystem, flora and fauna, and tectonic processes on its bed.
"In addition to the scientific discoveries that were made during the Mir expeditions... we have drawn the attention of the Russian and global public, as well as scientists and politicians, to the issue of preserving the unique lake," Slipenchuk said.
Baikal is the world's oldest and deepest lake.
