MOSCOW, October 6 (RIA Novosti) - Russian ruble was trading at record 40 rubles against the US dollar Monday, according to Moscow Exchange data.

By 10:06 a.m. Moscow time [6:06 a.m. GMT], the ruble dropped by 8 kopeks, to 40.04 for $1, euro traded for 50.15 rubles, up 22 kopeks.

The bi-currency basket (0.55 dollars and 0.45 euros) rose 14 kopeks compared with Friday's close, reaching 44.6 rubles

The exchange rate for the dollar against world currencies is decreasing after its rise on Friday. As of 9:55 a.m. Moscow time, the dollar was trading at 109.53 yen to the dollar, compared to the previous 109.72 yen. The euro-dollar exchange rate rose to 1.2521 from 1.2512 previously.

On October 3, the dollar exchange rate approached its four-year maximum in light of positive statistics from the labor market. The September unemployment rate in the United States shrank from 6.1 percent to 5.9 percent.
