MOSCOW, September 26 (RIA Novosti) – Russian Railways expects adjustments to the country's railway services during FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia, the company's President Vladimir Yakunin told RIA Novosti in an interview on Friday.

"Under the conditions that we observe today, specific adjustments [in the rail services] are likely to occur. But these adjustments should go in line with the volume of passengers that we would have to carry, and in line with specific [georgaphical] locations, because they [railway services] will also be changed according to the number of venues that will host such [FIFA] events," Yakunin said.

The concept plan for the development of railway infrastructure was sent to the government by Russian Railways when Russia was chosen to host the World Cup.

Yakunin added that the goal of rail transport for the World Cup was moving passengers from one point to another in five hours, and where this is not possible, comfortable night trains, transporting them in eight to nine hours.
