MOSCOW, September 2 (RIA Novosti) - Russia is interested in attracting foreign investors, including to the strategic sector, regardless of the current international climate, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Tuesday.

"Our position remains unchanged. Regardless of the current political collisions, difficulties that exist in international relations, we are interested in new foreign investors, including to those industries that are strategic under our laws. [We are interested in] investors who are willing to work on long-term contracts linked to the production of high-tech and competitive products", Medvedev stated at the meeting of the Government Commission on Monitoring Foreign Investment in the Russian Federation.

The commission will discuss foreign investment petitions in Russian companies engaged in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, heat-exchange equipment and building materials, with a special state commission later today, the Russian government press service reported on Tuesday.

The Government Commission on Monitoring Foreign Investment in the Russian Federation monitors foreign investment in companies of strategic importance for national defense and security. The deals that allow foreign investors to gain control over strategic companies, are subject to prior agreement with the commission.

In 2013, the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service considered 33 such petitions. The commission is headed by the Prime Minister. Generally the meetings are held once a quarter.
