MOSCOW, August 15 (RIA Novosti) - Transport aircraft from the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry brought to Moscow 60 people who have decided to leave Syria, ministry representative Alexander Drobyshevsky said Friday.

“The special flight brought 42 Russian citizens, eight Syrian citizens and 10 citizens of CIS countries, including Ukraine, to Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport,” Drobyshevsky told RIA Novosti.

On Thursday, the ministry delivered to Syria 30 tons of humanitarian aid.

According to the United Nations, the ongoing conflict between the government forces of Syria and numerous groups of armed rebels, including the Islamic State (IS) Sunni militant group has claimed 170,000 lives since its beginning in March 2011.

In 2013, Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry provided 22 countries including the United States, China and Syria with humanitarian aid or technical assistance. About 1,200 Russians were also evacuated from abroad.
