MOSCOW, August 5 (RIA Novosti) – Russia demonstrated its newest mobile space information reception complex LAN at the Innovation Day exhibition held by the Defense Ministry near Moscow on Tuesday, a spokesman for the ScanEx research and development center said.
“LAN is needed in the areas lacking coverage of stations and a speedy access to space data: during military exercises and military actions, along the Northern sea route and in natural and man-made emergencies,” the spokesman said.
The newest satellite data reception complex is equipped with a high-speed data transmission system via Internet that allows working in hard-to-reach areas, the spokesman explained.
LAN consists of antenna and laboratory modules placed on the vehicles. The satellite data is received in a real-time mode. The information is uploaded to the server installed on a mobile complex, after that it may be soon processed and deciphered with the use of software, developed by the company.
The complex is built on a modular basis: its platform (vehicle) as well as technical specifications of the receiving station may be changed and software can be updated to solve specific tasks.
The complex, which can work in extreme temperatures, is fully autonomous: power is supplied through a generator, and a station control block as well as a module used to receive and decode information are protected from external influence.
