MOSCOW, July 26 (RIA Novosti) – Russian President Vladimir Putin and Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott in a phone conversation on Saturday stressed the importance to stop military actions by all the warring sides of the Ukrainian conflict to ensure unhampered work of international experts at the MH17crash site in Ukraine’s Donetsk Region, the Kremlin press service announced.

“[Putin and Abbott] stressed the necessity of consistent implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 2166. First of all, all the warring sides to stop fighting as a necessary condition for unhampered efforts of international experts at the crash site,” the statement said.

A Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 with 298 people including 27 Australian citizens on board crashed on July 17 near the Ukrainian city of Donetsk.

Following the tragedy, Australia drafted a resolution, calling for an international investigation into the circumstances of the crash and full and unrestricted access to the site.

On July 21, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted the UN-led resolution which was praised by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Russia said it was ready to provide full assistance to the investigation, including experts in respective fields.
