SHANGHAI, May 20 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and China are planning to carry out their first joint border inspection, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping said in a statement after talks in Shanghai Tuesday.
The sides are set to "deepen cooperation on border issues, including conducting the first joint check of border lines, as well as regulate the situation on boundary rivers and fight against trans-border crime," the statement said, adding that the work will be done under a Russian-Chinese border committee.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is currently on a two-day visit to China to cement economic ties with the country, including a possible long-term energy deal.
