Approximately 25 million high-technology jobs will be created in Russia by 2020, Russian Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Livanov said Thursday.

MOSCOW, April 24 (RIA Novosti) – Approximately 25 million high-technology jobs will be created in Russia by 2020, Russian Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Livanov said Thursday.

“There is a legislative initiative in Russia to create high-technology jobs and increase labor productivity, especially for the youth. By 2020, 25 million high-technology jobs should be created,” Livanov told journalists during the opening ceremony of the Global University Summit.

The minister underlined the initiative calls for enhancements to the country’s education system.

“Currently in Russia, more than 65 percent of school graduates enter universities. Twenty-five years ago, these figures were four times lower,” Livanov added.

He noted that such a mass popularization of higher education causes problems related to the poorer quality of university education. Livanov added that the problem affects not only Russia, but a large number of developed nations.
