MOSCOW, April 23 (RIA Novosti) – Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree Wednesday to add Russia’s newly formed United Rocket and Space Corporation to the list strategic enterprises entitled to preferential government support.
"The United Rocket and Space Corporation has been added to the list of strategic enterprises,” the Kremlin said in a statement. The main goal of the corporation is to “ensure the country’s long-term competitiveness in the space sector.”
The company, led by former Deputy Head of Roscosmos Igor Komarov, oversees both civilian and defense work in the space industry.
The United Rocket and Space Corporation was established in December to radically centralize the country's space industry in a bid to combat major inefficiencies and cut down on the misuse of funds.
