The Russian government has announced that it is increasing compensation to disaster and terrorism victims and their families.

MOSCOW, February 20 (RAPSI) – The Russian government has announced that it is increasing compensation to disaster and terrorism victims and their families.

Under the measure, adopted last week, the disaster prevention and relief fund will now pay 1 million rubles ($30,000) to the families of those who die in disasters or terrorist attacks.

The previous amount was roughly two-thirds lower.

One-time payouts for minor injuries have been increased to 200,000 rubles and for serious injuries to 400,000 rubles.

Payouts to those taken hostage during terrorist attacks have been raised to 100,000 rubles, and daily allocations for meals at temporary shelters will now be 250 rubles per person.

The government’s reserve fund will also provide funding for federal and regional spending on emergency relief if needed.
