ROSTOV-ON-DON, November 26 (RIA Novosti) – A court in southern Russian city has sentenced a blogger and journalist to 18 months in prison on charges of insulting state authority and graft.
Sergei Reznik was found guilty of insulting a judge in Rostov-on-Don in a series of critical blog posts published on the LiveJournal social network.
He was also convicted of offering a bribe to get his car through a technical inspection, and organizing fake threats against himself.
The court sentenced him to one year and six months in jail. Reznik, who maintained his innocence, plans to appeal the verdict.
Two separate criminal cases against him are pending investigation.
