MOSCOW, September 19 (RIA Novosti) – Russian President Vladimir Putin addresses a plenary session at the 10th annual meeting of the Valdai Club, a discussion forum where high-level Russian officials have been meeting with foreign political scientists since 2004. RIA Novosti is broadcasting the session live; a recording will be posted following the broadcast.
This year’s Valdai meeting is taking place September 16-19 in the Novgorod Region in northwestern Russia, focusing on the country’s role in the modern world. The event, which aims to strengthen dialogue between Russian and foreign scientists, politicians and journalists and to analyze political, economic and social processes in Russia and beyond, gathers over 200 Russian and foreign pundits, thinkers and politicians.
For the 10 years since the club’s establishment, over 600 international scholars from 47 countries have taken part in its work.
