Buryat Artist Enjoys Major Exhibition in New York

Dashi Namdakov, a renowned artist and sculptor from the Russian Republic of Buryatia is enjoying his biggest exhibition yet in the United States, reports absolutearts.com.

NEW YORK, June 24 (RIA Novosti) - Dashi Namdakov, a renowned artist and sculptor from the Russian Republic of Buryatia is enjoying his biggest exhibition yet in the United States, reports absolutearts.com.

“The Nomad, Memory of the Future,” is on view at the National Arts Club in New York until June 30 and features over 60 pieces including bronze sculptures, graphic art and jewelry. A presentation of the Russian-American Heritage Foundation, the exhibition showcases “the artist’s extraordinary craftsmanship and highly original style, which blends visual art traditions and techniques of the East and the West.”

Born in Transbaikal in 1967, Namdakov trained as a sculptor at the Krasnoyarsk Academy of Fine Arts. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Beijing, Paris and New York and is also in the personal collections of actress Uma Thurman and country musician Willie Nelson.

In 2012, Namdakov’s 16-foot (4.9-meter) statue of Genghis Khan stood at Marble Arch in London for 6 months.
