MOSCOW, June 14 (RIA Novosti) – A US government report concluding Syria has used chemical weapons against rebels, crossing what US President Barack Obama has previously described as a “red line,” is a fabrication, a senior Russian lawmaker said Friday.
“Information about the usage of chemical weapons by [Syrian President Bashar] Assad is fabricated in the same way as the lie about [Saddam] Hussein's weapons of mass destruction [in Iraq],” Alexei Pushkov, head of the Russian lower house of parliament’s international affairs committee, said on Twitter.
US intelligence reports presented to the UN and the international community prior to the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 claimed Saddam Hussein’s regime possessed weapons of mass destruction including nerve agents, ballistic missiles and a nuclear weapons program. The US claimed the threat posed by those weapons justified the invasion of Iraq, but after the country was occupied, the alleged weapons of mass destruction were never found.
President Obama “is going the same way” as former President George W. Bush did then, Pushkov said.
The White House said on Thursday it now believes with “high confidence” that Syrian government forces have used chemical weapons many times during the two-year conflict there, and vowed to boost US aid to the armed opposition fighting to remove Assad from power.
White House Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes said Obama had decided to provide further support, including military support, for Syrian opposition forces as a result of its conclusion that government forces has used such chemical weapons.
Rhodes declined to clarify whether this support would entail providing arms to the Syrian opposition, but said US aid to armed opposition on the ground would differ greatly “in scope and scale” from assistance Washington had previously provided to the rebels. The US goal, Rhodes said, is to “strengthen their effectiveness.”
Syrian government officials have accused opposition forces of using chemical weapons against President Bashar Assad's military in a March attack in outside of the northern city of Aleppo.
Some 93,000 people are believed to have died since fighting broke out between Syrian government forces and rebels in March 2011, according to the latest UN figures.

- robin(no title)13:32, 14/06/2013Please review the USA history since the Civil ward in this country and before. It is full of deception, broken signed accord, excuses to attack countries, expropriate foreign land, assassinations, support of mercenaries (with the deceit of being freedom fighters), etc. This is the historical pattern of the USA. The Obama administration has brought to the open Kerry hypocrisy and his deceit to Lavrov.
The USA does not need anymore for Turkey to supply the Stinger missile (FIM-92) to the Syria opposition (alias mercenaries); now they will do it directly. My opinion now is that this announcement should validate other countries to arm those entities that are fighting the USA occupation around the world (i.e. shoulder-launched surface-to-air missiles) and finish the criminal actions of the so called “Drones”. Countries have restrained from supplying these weapons by fear of the reprisal from he USA; not any more, and period.
The longer the wars in Syria continue the Zionist entity will live in peace. Look at this: the UN’s secretary request that the killing in Syria can be at any place but not at the Golan land because it will upset Israel.
In summary for the USA and its cronies “Business is as usual”
By the way, as the USA has declared itself the judge and jury of the world and summit reports why don’t Russia, India, China, Iran, etc produce reports to denounce the illegal actions of the USA?
- majwilliammartinWe here in America know this is fabricated, NSA knows we know!14:38, 14/06/2013We have the videos that show Al Qaeda Rebel's using these Chemical's!
The US Government is in violation of the NDAA in Arming the very Al Qaeda that has brought us or U.S. 11 years of Wars and the deaths of thousands of American's and sadly who knows how many innocent "Droned to Death" civilian's in various countries?
The Rebel's showed us the Rabbit's dying and their threat to kill next the Christian's and Syrian's in Syria. These Chemical's like the 2 American's both had Turkish labels on the Chemical's and Bank Bags.
Why would Bashar Al Assad kill 16 of his own troops and dozens of his civilians?
We also have the videos of these SAME Jihadist's who said, "We were LIED TO by Al Jazeera and their own Cleric's. They admit there was NEVER a Civil War in Syria."
To understand this more:
Review the YouTube video from Ret. Gen. Wesley Clark saying, "The US will attack 7 Countries in 5 years."
Even more curious, England's CAMERON is now referring to RUSSIA as a "Regime" now too!
President Valdimir Putin should run for U.S. President as it is clear you don't need to be a U.S. Citizen.
The US is violating its own laws for the Benefit of ISRAEL. Israel also opened its hospitals for these Al Qaeda Rebel's. Both the US and Israel are Aiding and Supporting KNOWN Al Qaeda Terrorist!
- majwilliammartinU.N. has FAILED to Unite ANY Nation. Period!15:29, 14/06/2013We daily hear of Israel's UN Resolution violations that have continued for Decades.
When the U.N. does speak up and confirms information, they are totally IGNORED by the USA, England and Israel as well as France.
UN accuses Syrian rebels of carrying out sarin gas attacks which had been blamed on Assad's troops
Carla Del Ponte said UN Commission investigating war crimes in Syria has 'strong, concrete suspicions' that rebels used chemical weapons
Her remarks contradict statements by the U.S. and UK which said intelligence indicated Syrian soldiers used the weapons
'Strong, concrete suspicions': UN investigator Carla del Ponte says there are indications that chemical weapons attacks were carried out by Syrian rebels
A senior United Nations official has claimed that Syrian rebels may have used chemical weapons against government forces.
Carla Del Ponte said evidence from casualties and medical staff indicated that rebel forces in the civil war had used the deadly nerve agent sarin.
‘Our investigators have been in neighbouring countries interviewing victims, doctors and field hospitals, and there are strong, concrete suspicions, but not yet incontrovertible proof, of the use of sarin gas, said Del Ponte in an interview with Swiss-Italian television.
‘This was use on the part of the opposition, the rebels, not by the government authorities.’
The U.S. is dying to get Syria into the WORLD BANK to force Sales of OIL and GAS into the U.S. Dollar that is failing so badly as the U.S. Non-Federal FEDERAL RESERVE pumps 85 Million a month into the Stocks to buy up toxic derivatives to Keep WALL STREET high while the US has 47.8% of our Population on Food Stamps to hide the massive SOUP LINES so common in a Depression.
When Iraq started to Legally sell its OIL in the Euro they were ATTACKED! When Libya was switching to the GOLD DINAR they too were ATTACKED. LIBYA'S 144 TONS of GOLD is MISSING!
When Germany asked France and US Fed for their Gold, they didn't have it. So France and US ATTACK Mali, Africa's 3rd Largest GOLD producer.
ALL WARS ARE BANKING WARS.

- HoholI'm confused a little23:17, 18/06/2013I am just confused. I am sure US and UK and France are not being honest. I am sure they are making this stuff up. But at least Bush and Blair had a plan to invade Iraq no matter what, and they knew that there was no WMD. These guys today do not seem to be fully intent. And I think we need to thanks Russia for that. Russia must make sure it has range of responses - naval deployments, supplies of S-300 with Russian personnel. And I hope Russia is somehow providing the Syrian government with images and data about movements across its borders.
New ties between Russia and Japan would mark not only a breakthrough in their relations but also a significant shift in Northeast Asia’s political dynamic. Both are secondary players in a region overshadowed by an increasingly assertive China, which has not hesitated to push against the boundaries of its neighbors.
