Russian aviation watchdog Rosaviatsia has restored airworthiness certificates to three of four Sukhoi SSJ-100 airliners operated by Russia's largest airline Aeroflot, after they were suspended early this week over serviceability problems, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft said on Friday.

MOSCOW, February 15 (RIA Novosti) - Russian aviation watchdog Rosaviatsia has restored airworthiness certificates to three of four Sukhoi SSJ-100 airliners operated by Russia's largest airline Aeroflot, after they were suspended early this week over serviceability problems, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft said on Friday.

“It is expected that the fourth Sukhoi Superjet 100 will come back into operation by the end of this week,” Sukhoi said in a statement.

Business daily Vedomosti reported on Tuesday that Rosaviatsia had ordered Aeroflot to suspend the airworthiness certificates of four of Aeroflot's ten SSJ-100 aircraft.

Aeroflot officials have complained about various operational and servicing issues with the short/medium-haul airliner. Sukhoi said problems had been detected with false readings in the aircraft's leak warning system, failure of the wing slats to deploy and undercarriage retraction problems.

The defects in the three Superjet 100 planes were rectified with Aeroflot's assistance, Sukhoi said.

Sukhoi previously announced it would compensate Aeroflot for all losses resulting from periods of unserviceability affecting the airline’s new Sukhoi Superjet 100's.

“Under the previously signed agreement, the Sukhoi Civil Aviation Company will compensate the airline for financial losses that may result from downtime for technical reasons, with compensation to be paid for each day of such delay,” Sukhoi said in a statement.

Aeroflot is the largest SSJ-100 customer with a total order for 30 airliners. Armenia’s Armavia was the first airline to start commercial operations with the SSJ-100 in April 2011.

The SSJ-100 was developed by Sukhoi in cooperation with US and European aviation corporations, including Boeing, Honeywell, Liebherr Aerospace, Messier Dowty, Snecma and Thales . It is capable of carrying up to 100 passengers for 4,500 kilometers (2,850 miles).
