One police officer was killed and two others were injured in an attack in Russia's volatile North Caucasus republic of Dagestan on Thursday, officials said.
The incident occurred when gunmen opened fire on the officers' car in Dagestan's Khasavyurt district.
Police are combing the area to find the attackers, the Interior Ministry said.
In a separate incident, a policeman was shot dead in neighboring Chechnya on Wednesday.
Security officers in the Caucasus are regular targets of attacks by Islamist militants who seek independence from Moscow.
